Since 2001, the Bermuda Islander has been part of the JR Shipping fleet. The vessel used to sail under the name of Externo and was built by Scheepswerf Bijlsma Lemmer BV. Type: Conofeeder 340. The vessel stands out because of her high service speed, good loading capacity and highest ice class.

On 22 January 2015, she was transferred to BISL, which had chartered the vessel for a long time. JR Shipping will continue to be responsible for her ship management
