The Clipper Stad Amsterdam occupies a special place in the JR Shipping fleet comprising container feeders, multipurpose vessels and SeaZip offshore service vessels. She is a tall ship, modelled after the merchant trading vessel Amsterdam built in 1854, and has been in service since 2001. Construction started in 1997. With her length of 76 metres and a total sail area of 2,200 square metres, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam constitutes a prestigious ship intended for luxurious cruises and business events.

In 2011, the ship won the Cutty Sark Tall Ship Race. In 2009, she was deployed for a voyage around the world in the context of a Dutch television series about the expeditions by Charles Darwin.

Since 2012, JR Shipping has been in charge of the technical management of the Clipper Stad Amsterdam.
