This week the crew of container feeder vessel Bermuda Islander were vaccinated against the corona virus. This put them in an exceptional position. Seafarers being granted a preferential position in national vaccination programmes globally deployed against the pandemic is a rare occurrence.
Despite the coronavirus, JR Shipping succeeded in safeguarding the continuity of container transport in 2020. Although crew members were often obliged to perform their work in harsh circumstances, they were able to guarantee a high standard of maritime service.
At the end of July 2020, JR Ship Brokers & Consultants will say farewell to its Managing Director of 13 years, Mr Dik Kuiper. Dik Kuiper has reached retirement age. He will be replaced by Mr Sander Schakelaar, who is one of the Owners/Managing Directors of the shipping group. Mr Jan Reier Arends is the other Owner/Managing Director.
JR Shipping is sailing on, even under the challenging circumstances of the corona crisis. All procedures and measures have been carried out to assure the health and safety of our crew and the efficiency and quality of our operations.
In 2019, through effectively issuing bonds and participations, JR Shipping Group was able to finance an existing container feeder vessel. Besides that, Container Fleet Fund CV’s capacity was increased by four vessels and the shipping company entered into a new management contract for an 800-TEU feeder vessel sailing under the name of MV Expert.
Dutch companies Boomsma Shipping, JR Shipping, Van Wijngaarden Marine Services and 1 OCEAN invest in the first global Learning & Intelligence Support App for the maritime industry. State Secretary for Economic Affairs Mona Keizer awarded the consortium € 200.000,- to support the initiative.
